Katherine A Eberlein (1866-1934)

Mrs. Catherine Reichel passed away at the Municipal hospital early Sunday morning. She had been ill for some time, but not seriously, so her death came as a distinct shock to members of  her family. She had been a patient at the hospital for two days.

Mrs. Reichel can be considered a pioneer of this county, for she came to Shawano County when but four years old. She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Fred Eberlein, Sr., and was born in East Liberty, Penn., on July 13, 1866. Her parents, who were prominent in this section, settled in the town of Herman, and when she was 13 years old they came to make their home in this city. On May 25, 1885, she was united in marriage to William Reichel, Sr., who died on November 2, 1915.

The deceased was one of the oldest members of St. James’ Lutheran church and had been active in the various societies of that order. She was especially interested in the work of the Ladies’ Aid society.

In late years Mrs. Reichel spent her winters in Florida, but always returned to her home early in the spring. She was devoted to her family and took a keen pride and delight in their progress.

The children left to survive are Herman and William, of this city; Fred of Blythville, Arkansas; Emil and Mrs. Rina Chouinard, of Milwaukee. She also leaves five sister [sic], Mrs. Herman Kellerman, Florida; Mrs. G. C. Pluedeman, So. Dakota; Mrs. Ida Killerman [sic], St. Louis; Mrs. Emma Kriewaldt, living in Australia, and Mrs. Fred Breed of Embarass; and three brothers, Fred, Charles and Michael Eberlein of this city.

Funeral services were conducted at Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the William Reichel home and at the Lutheran church. Rev. Uhlig officiated. The pallbearers were George Lillie, Oscar Druckney, Christ Werbelow, Dave Dicke, Oscar Ramlow and Otto Hartman. Internment was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Frederick J Eberlein (1834-1896)

DEPARTED THIS LIFE

After an illness of more than 5 months, Mr. Frederick Eberlein breathed his last at his home in this city yesterday afternoon at 3:10. The cause of his death is not definitely known. Mr. Eberlein submitted to an operation some months ago, but received no benefit and has been confined to his bed ever since. Deceased was born in Germany Jan. 31, 1834, and came to this country when 16 years of age. He settled in Shawano county 26 years ago and 10 years later moved to this city, which has since been his home. He was an industrious and upright citizen and as such enjoyed the respect and esteem of all. A wife and family of 11 sons and daughters survive him. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Th. Nickel.
